I'm here to share the very best vintage pieces I can find. I hope you love what I've curated for you.
All things vintage have always been in my blood; I just didn't always appreciate it! As a young kid growing up in Brewster, New York, antique stores (what we'd frequently refer to as "junk" stores) and flea markets were always on the family's agenda. I can't say I was enthusiastic about any of it back then, including the countless garage sales we stopped at along the way and the many gems we "rescued" from the garbage, but I must have absorbed the love of the treasure hunt by osmosis somewhere along the way.
We relocated when I was about 15 years old. Before I hit my social stride here in South Florida, I'd spend any free moment (when I wasn't working or in school) either thrifting or passing the hours at a local bookstore.
South Florida is an interesting place to become an avid thrifter. You see many, many collections passed down from estates. Entire collections people have built and celebrated for years are strewn thoughtlessly or placed in a bargain bin. These are vibrant pieces that people collected over their lifetime. You also see the most kitsch, quirky items, and so-incredibly-tacky-that-it's-absolutely-amazing pieces! You see pieces that without a doubt feel distinctly Floridian, but there is also an amazing array from all around the world since so many people retire here. My eye is frequently drawn to glass pieces from Italy, Japan, France, England and beyond.
When you think about how many people have downsized, retired, and ultimately enjoyed the last of their golden years here, it makes perfect sense as to why this is such a unique mecca for pieces from the past. You can't help but think about the people whose objects you're holding, what kinds of lives they lead and what the pieces meant to them.
As for me, I only purchase what I love, and what I'm proud to offer to my wonderful customers. If a piece doesn't speak to me aesthetically, I leave it for someone else to discover. I dislike when people "gatekeep", make others feel silly for knowing less about a topic, or try to dictate what type of pieces should and shouldn't be enjoyed. Collecting vintage is about expressing yourself, and adding one-of-a-kind pieces that have stood the test of time to your home decor.
In addition to the wonderful art, brass, decorative serving pieces, mugs, and other decor I gravitate towards, I'll occasionally offer vintage jewelry and fashion.
Out and about, I constantly see re-sellers Google searching the value of items to "flip" for a profit. Personally, for me, this is truly about sharing treasure with you! It's about finding that needle in a haystack; getting my hands on a piece that really excites me that I just couldn't fathom passing up! It's about walking in a door and having a piece call out to you from across the room. If that's not fun, I don't know what is.
It isn't lost on me that I now reside on the TREASURE COAST of Florida. Funny how things work out!
I opened my shop in February 2022 as a means of stress relief, personal expression, and trying to find some joy after a wild and crazy 2 years.
